Frank Green

Our travel coffee mug saga continues, as it has for years. From ruining a beautiful scarf by driving with a non-spillproof mug and arriving at work coffee stained, to having to wear a soaked Covid-19 mask on a 2hr bus trip, we just weren't winning. Enter: Frank Green, served up to me by Google. Yes, I'm the person that clicks, but I was skeptical.

Say what? Yes, their bold claims had me twitching and bestie grabbing her credit card. She was instantly sold by the contactless payments. In the end, that was the only unfulfilled claim! The tech is only available in Aus, where Frank is based. Bestie: out. She went for UK-based WAKEcup out of sheer disappointment.

I chose the ceramic 295ml cup. It is magnificently spill-proof. After bestie's mask incident, I went dramatic. Filled it, turned it over, gave it a good spanking - while shaking! Nada. It also kept my coffee hot for 2 hours. This mug is invincible! The only thing I don't absolutely love is the weird sipping hole. And that's not me being inappropriate. It really is a hole, for sucking liquid. I find it uncomfortable enough to prefer opening it and drinking directly from the much more pleasant, if a little metalic, cup. Which defeats much, but not all, of the spill-proof magnificence *facepalm*.

So, this is our current favourite, but our search continues.

Frank Green was started by a caffeine enthusiast and passionate environmental advocate (he sounds great), meaning these are the dual passions of the company, plus great design and convenience. We love that they've worked out it takes just 15 uses before we begin offsetting the environmental impact it took to make a Frank Green. Would be great if you could include transport to the UK, Frank. And if it's not too much trouble, how long to offset recycling? (We've asked)
