Store bought: Cheesecake

Tesco Passion Fruit & Rasberry Cheesecake

After we'd gone cold turkey on all desserts with the dreaded "milk" in bold on the back, bestie's sister in South Africa tormented us with pics of her homemade rasberry cheesecake. It looked bizarrely similar to this bad boy we happened to have eyed-up at our local Tesco earlier that same day! It was clearly fate.

We took our chances on this store-bought quick fix and it worked a treat. Just as most cheeses don't affect us, we were delighted but actually not surprised to realise we could love cheesecakes again! As long as there's no cream or milk chocolate, yes please!

The success of this experiment crystalised the importance of dairy portion size. There is some whipping cream in it, which we can't tolerate on desserts, but the amount baked into this - no problem!

The passion fruit & raspberry glaze is just the right level of tangy-sweet to go with the slightly sour, creamy cheesecake middle. The real rasberries and layer of buttery digestive biscuit crumbs makes this taste more chef-made than store-bought.

Sustainability

We love Tesco's for the meaningful positive impact they're having, not just via their own sustainability efforts but also their stewardship within the food industry - being the change and driving change. We admire them for asking for help too, and even more so for not flaunting the association with such a big brand sustainability partner. We had to dig a little! The packaging is fully recyclable so, with the exception of the (unstated) dairy impact, our conscience is as satisfied as our tummies.
